Where I’m From – Sahara Curry

I am from Tide
From fresh paint
picture frames filled with memories
I am from the stiff bristles of paintbrushes
To soft pinned combs
From aloe trees that healed my singed skin
I am from holidays at Grandma and Grandpa’s house
Extending into the late night
I am from lush backyards
Ponds lurking with frogs and magnolia trees
I am from salad–hand picked from our Acworth garden
Weekly blueberry and strawberry picking
I am from cannon balls into shallow ends of ponds
To stories passed down from Rosalyn Harmon
We re-watched Mary Poppins
Endless times together
I am from picture frames that tell a story
Each one lining the hallways represents me
